Libertarian Presidential Candidate Jo Jorgensen Releases Statement Against Child Trafficking.
“Many of you have asked about my feelings on this issue, and I would like to make it clear where I stand. Child sex trafficking is a tragedy, and it is a travesty of justice that anyone is able to get away with such a crime.”
According to LiberateChildren.org there is an estimated 10 million children currently suffering as victims of child trafficking worldwide.
The average age is kids aged 12-14 years old, with children as young as 3 years old being affected.
Trafficking comes in many forms throughout the world from forced labor to forced sex work.
Chrystul Kizer was arrested for murdering her sex trafficker after months of sexual abuse.
“The case of Kizer, who shot and killed her suspected trafficker after a year of sexual abuse and violence, has drawn international attention from advocates who say she is a victim acting in self-defense and have campaigned for charges to be dropped.
Her bail was raised by a combination of community groups that included the Chrystul Kizer Defense Committee, Chicago Community Bond Fund, Milwaukee Freedom Fund and Survived & Punished.” (USA Today)
Libertarian Vice Presidential Candidate Spike Cohen released a statement on Kizer’s behalf earlier this year as well.
Let’s also not forget about Justice for Zephaniah
Zephaniah “Zephi” Trevino is a 16 year old Latinx girl who has been accused of aggravated robbery and capital murder.
Zephaniah was approached in May 2019 by a sex trafficker who used physical threats, threats of death against her family, and drugs. She had recently been exposed to drugs in an abusive relationship with her boyfriend.
Zephaniah’s trafficker killed her purchaser in a conflict. Neither of them have been charged. Instead, the charges have fallen upon an innocent junior in high school - a victim of sex trafficking.
The public defender on her case is encouraging her to take a plea and serve a long sentence. We believe in Zephi's innocence, and call for the adequate defense team she deserves. Justice for Zephaniah, a girl who was once an active member of her community.
